The Chinese medical experts answers the questions of their foreign counterparts on how should hospitals operate during pandemic regime, CGTN channel reports.
In the period of corona virus spread, there is still a large population who needs ongoing healthcare in the region. The question is what were the measures taken to preserve capacity at Chinese hospitals to treat all actual and potential Covid-19 patients while still caring for the rest of the population? On Mondays the hospitals abroad has canceled all elective surgeries, which freed up large capacity of hospital to absorb patients with the infection.
Actually situations are different, depending on where you are – inside Hubei province or outside Hubei province. Outside Hubei province the patients’ number was relatively small. So the majority hospitals are still running their ordinary way, but tried to reduce the number of elective surgeries, such as those who can be waited. Emergency surgeries in most places are still going on the way. But inside of Hubei that is a totally different story. For example, in Wuhan at the first two months all the medical needs of a large population have been postponed because Covis-19 was a major health threat at that time. One approach in some places was to divide the hospitals into two parts. One is for carrying ordinary medical service functions, and the other hospitals, a lot of which were designed by the government, to be specifically designed for the Covid-19 , Cao Vay, the infection disease doctor of the Hospitals at the Beijing Medical College replied.
