Addressing the forum participants on June 23, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said Kazakhstan has been taking unprecedented measures to counteract the spread of coronavirus, Toppress.kz correspondent reports citing www.akorda.kz.
“Significant funds have been allocated from the budget to combat coronavirus. Low-income families were provided with food. Small and medium-sized businesses have been given a number of benefits. At the initiative of Nursultan Nazarbayev significant funds were allocated from the Birgemiz Foundation. The work has been actively carried out by the Nur Otan party,” he said.
The head of state stressed it is important that people take coronavirus seriously and called on citizens to take proper care of their own health and look after their relatives and friends. Kassym-Zhomart Tokaev thanked medical personnel, police, military, volunteers, government officials, journalists, and philanthropists. In Kazakhstan, patients receive high-quality, effective treatment, he said.
During the forum, a group of medical workers was awarded with medals and state orders for their dedicated work.
“After the state of emergency was lifted, the citizens got relaxed, underestimating the risks and no longer respecting medical rules and regulations. Some citizens still tend to believe rumors about the absence of the disease as such. Therefore, the government had to tighten the quarantine again,” President Tokayev concluded.
