On April 15, Kazakhstan’s First President Nursultan Nazarbayev met with the Nur Otan party’s First Deputy Chairman Bauyrzhan Baibek. At the meeting, Nazarbayev highlighted the ruling party’s active work in supporting the government’s measures during the state of emergency.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has become a challenge for whole of the humanity. President Tokayev and the government announced new measures to provide assistance to those in need, large families, people with disabilities and the elderly. I have instructed the party to actively work to support the government,” he said.
Nursultan Nazarbayev mentioned the Birgemiz public foundation (which stands for “We are together” in Kazakh) and thanked Kazakhstani people for supporting his initiative. As of now, over 152,000 families received financial assistance in the amount of 50,000 tenge from the foundation. He thanked 3,000 young activists and volunteers who helped to distribute essential goods and food to more than 50,000 families across the country.
Bauyrzhan Baibek, for his part, informed Nursultan Nazarbayev about the party’s contribution in the implementation of anti-crisis measures.
“To date, the foundation has received about 20 billion tenge. Apart from financial assistance we are distributing face masks to needy families of the capital, Almaty and Shymkent. More than two thousand doctors and medical workers of the capital and Almaty received 50,000 tenge from the foundation,” he noted.
