On May 28, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Chair of the Board of the Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund Akhmetzhan Yessimov, Toppress.kz correspondent reports.
According to Akhmetzhan Yessimov, during the quarantine manufacturing enterprises of the Samruk-Kazyna did not cut jobs or delayed payment of wages. Timely measures to improve the fund’s financial stability allowed reducing external debt accumulated over the previous years by US$ 8 billion and prevent losses in the amount of 1 trillion tenge.
At the moment, the fund is working on the implementation of President Tokayev’s instructions to support the country’s economy through the procurement system. Since the beginning of 2020, Samruk-Kazyna placed nine thousand orders for the domestic enterprises, which currently employ 259,000 people. A programme to support Kazakhstani enterprises and create new industries is under implementation.
Akhmetzhan Yessimov also reported on the progress of the privatization program.
