Akim (mayor) of Almaty region Amandyk Batalov got infected with coronavirus, Toppress.kz correspondent reports citing his press secretary Galymurat Zhukel.
Amandyk Batalov has self-isolated. Unfortunately, the results of the last PCR test for COVID-19 showed a positive result. The symptoms of coronavirus occur without clinical manifestations, he wrote.
Galymurat Zhukel added that the head of the region will stay in self-isolation and keep working remotely.
Amandyk Batalov was born in 1952 in Uzbekistan. He started his career as a principal engineer at the construction company ‘Almaataotdelstroi’. In 1995 he was appointed as mayor of Zhetysu district of Almaty. In 2001 Batalov became Deputy mayor of Almaty region. Since 2014 he has been working as Mayor of Almaty region.
