On May 27, the Mazhilis (Lower Chamber of Parliament) gave second reading approval to the draft law “On introducing amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the issues of gambling,” Toppress.kz correspondent reports.
Among the amendments are the exclusion of rules on opening new gambling zones and the requirement to locate bookmaker’s offices and betting terminals in two existing gambling zones – in Almaty and Akmola regions.
Overall, the law is expected to improve legislation in the field of gambling, protect the rights and legitimate interests of betting participants, and ensure control over the activities of bookmaker’s offices and sweepstakes.
The law provides for the creation of a Betting Center, self-restriction of individuals from participation in gambling and betting, as well as the restriction of betting odds.
The draft law was sent to the Senate for further consideration.
