A strict lockdown could be reintroduced in Nur-Sultan due to multiple violations of sanitary rules, Toppress.kz correspondent reports citing the akimat (mayor’s office) of the capital.
A number of facilities have already been closed in the city for non-compliance with sanitary standards, including construction companies, non-food stores, restaurants, cafes that worked in takeaways and others. The akimat’s mobile group, together with police and epidemiologists conduct daily raids to monitor compliance with sanitary standards of those organizations that have permits to work.
As reported earlier, 15 facilities were closed for non-compliance with sanitation norms in order to prevent further spread of coronavirus. According to Kazakhstani experts, health consequences of COVID-19 may linger long after the infection ends. “Infection affects not only the lungs, but also the kidneys, liver, heart, and can also affect the brain. In addition, foci appear in the lungs in the form of tissue fibrosis, as the respiratory system alone can no longer withstand severe stress. Pulmonary function weakens. It is still unknown what complications may arise in a year or two,” the akimat’s representative said.
As noted by the head of the capital’s health department Saule Kisikova, one should not neglect a dangerous infection. “People should not relax now; mask regime should be maintained everywhere. If someone does not adhere to strict sanitary rules, the city will have to go back to strict quarantine and lockdown. How quickly we will be able to return to our normal way of life fully depends on us”, she stressed.
