A pool consisting of 10 thousand healthcare workers has been created in Kazakhstan to combat COVID-19, Chief Sanitary Doctor Aizhan Yesmagambetova said at a press briefing on Monday, April 6.
As for the preparedness and sufficiency of medical staff, at the moment 16 000 health workers are involved in the treatment and prevention of coronavirus infection,Yesmagambetova said.
She added that under the quarantine common medical services in all medical organizations have been limited and, if necessary, medical personnel of these organizations will be engaged in providing assistance to patients with coronavirus infection.
Today, overall hospital bed occupancy is 21%. The most overcrowded hospitals are in Almaty where bed occupancy rate is 43%, followed by Atyrau region – 35%, Chief Sanitary Doctor concluded.
