President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated Kazakhstanis on the People’s Unity Day, Toppress.kz correspondent reports citing President’s official web-site akorda.kz. The holiday is celebrated on May 1 since 1996 to mark the friendship and unity among the 130 ethnicities living in the country.
Dear fellow compatriots! I congratulate you on the People’s Unity Day! This holiday is loved and cherished by everyone who lives in our thriving country. Our key achievements have been possible due to the unity, friendship and solidarity of all ethnic groups that make up the people of Kazakhstan.
Modern Kazakhstan’s strategic course is based on such enduring values as peace and social harmony and was founded by the First President – Leader of the Nation Nursultan Nazarbayev. Being united, we were able to strengthen national sovereignty, gain authority and respect on the international arena.
This year, the Unity Day is acquiring special significance. Like the whole world, Kazakhstan is struggling with the coronavirus pandemic and is negatively affected by the global economic situation. I am convinced that with the help of unity, mutual support, common goals and stamina we will successfully cope with all difficulties and achieve new success on the path towards progress. I wish you all peace and harmony, good health and prosperity!” the congratulatory address reads.
