On May 2, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree terminating the powers of Dariga Nazarbayeva as the Chair of the Senate of Kazakhstan, Toppress.kz correspondent reports citing akorda.kz. No further details were provided by the presidential Press Office.
Dariga Nazarbayeva served as the Chair of the Senate of Kazakhstan from March 20, 2019. She was elected by senators through a secret ballot. All the 44 senators present at the session voted in Nazarbayeva’s favour.
Dariga Nazarbayeva is the daughter of the First President of Kazakhstan – Leader of the Nation Nursultan Nazarbayev.
