Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko congratulated each other on the upcoming 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War during a phone conversation on May 4, Toppress.kz correspondent reports citing akorda.kz.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev wished Belarusian war veterans and homefront workers good health, noting their unprecedented courage in the fight against fascist aggression. On his part, Alexander Lukashenko, emphasized the enormous contribution of Kazakhstan and Belarus in the Victory and conveyed his sincere gratitude to the people of Kazakhstan, wishing them prosperity.
The heads of state talked about measures taken in their countries to help people during the COVID-19 pandemic and support small and medium-sized businesses. Tokayev and Lukashenko agreed to coordinate the two countries’ efforts aimed at maintaining positive dynamics of trade and economic cooperation and further strengthen Kazakh-Belarusian strategic partnership. The presidents also discussed upcoming bilateral events and prospects for interaction within multilateral organizations and forums.
The talks were held on the initiative of Kazakhstan.
