Nursultan Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Intercivilizational Dialogue has launched a new educational project enabling internet users to take virtual tours of the sacred places of Kazakhstan and other countries of the world, Toppress.kz correspondent reports. This way the Centre intends to promote self-education during the quarantine imposed amid the COVID-19 outbreak that restricted people’s movement and changed their everyday routine. Another major goal of the project is to encourage rapprochement between different cultures, religions and civilizations.
The users are invited to have a virtual walk through unique religious monuments and sacred places across the world. For example, they are given a unique opportunity to “visit” the holy cities of Islam, including Mecca (and Kaaba), to see the holiest religious sites of the three religions in Jerusalem, a unique Hindu temple complex – Swaminarayan Akshardham in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, to get acquainted with the center of the Buddhist world – Bodh Gaya, to learn the history of the Shinto shrine – Itsukushima. A virtual tour of the museum complex Hazrat Sultan is also available, which includes the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, the mausoleum of Rabim Sultan Begim, the mausoleum of Yessim Khan, the mausoleum of Gauhar Ana and many other spiritual places.
