On August 4, Nur-Sultan mayor’s office said a digital representation of 40 % of the city’s utility networks, buildings and land plots have been created, Toppress.kz correspondent reports citing the akimat’s press service.
A geographic information center allows users to see the loads on utility networks, predict and simulate urban planning processes, create a database of free land plots in order to ensure their rational use and withdrawal of plots that are not used for their intended purpose. Astana Innovations JSC and KazAeroSpace LLP are working on the creation of a geoinformation center.
This project is more relevant than ever. On paper, the data does not always coincide with the real picture. When specialists start repairing roads, building sewers, etc., they sometimes damage cables, which, it would seem, should not be there on paper. Digitization will allow us to see the city both from above and from below – with all its utility networks, which will in turn simplify repairs and the process of connecting new facilities to the existing networks. Digitalization also provides an opportunity to predict and simulate urban planning processes, data on the need to build schools, kindergartens, hospitals, schools in certain areas, Altai Kulginov noted.
The new system will make it possible to simulate natural and man-made situations and the city’s infrastructure, including sewerage bursts, accidents and flood-prone areas. The modeling can be used to prepare in advance for all sorts of emergencies. An investment map will also be available to make sure entrepreneurs can see what facilities could be created in certain areas.
