Head of the Public Health Department of Nur-Sultan Saule Kisikova spoke about the spike in the number of pneumonia cases in Nur-Sultan at a press briefing on June 25, Toppress.kz correspondent reports.
“At the moment, 600 people with pneumonia seek medical attention every day, while previously we used to have about 80 pneumonia cases a day. About 350-400 patients are hospitalized daily with coronavirus and pneumonia. The number of people being treated in infectious and provisional hospitals has increased up to 2.5 thousand,” she said.
According to Saule Kisikova, 91% of them are moderate to severe patients, and 9% percent are patients with severe to extremely severe disease.
“In just one week, the number of patients tripled. There are 103 patients in the intensive care unit, 51 of them with coronavirus, and 22 on the ventilator. Unfortunately, 38 deaths have been reported. Of these, 70 percent are people aged 60 years or older,” she concluded.
