Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed that due to the timely measures taken by the government the speed of coronavirus spread has been reduced.
I want to highlight well-coordinated work of healthcare workers. At a challenging time, law enforcement agencies are demonstrating their efficiency. The government and local executive bodies are actively working too, he said.
Nazarbayev said it is important to properly implement the policy and instructions of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. “It is important to explain the President’s initiatives to the people. I talked about it with regional akims (mayors) over the phone,” First President of Kazakhstan said.
Nursultan Nazarbayev noted it is important to ensure economic security in this situation.
Economic situation in the world is complicated. According to the results of the first quarter, Kazakhstan’s economic indicators are not too bad. However, the consequences of the quarantine are yet to be seen. It is important to support small and medium-sized businesses and provide people with food. We should think what we will do in the post-crisis period. The economy will decline, and, most likely, the consequences will be more severe than the 2008 recession, he said.
Nursultan Nazarbayev said the decision to allocate US 10 billion from the National Fund and the fund of the government to support domestic economy was very timely. Prime Minister Mamin informed Nursultan Nazarbayev about the measures taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country and to ensure socio-economic stability.
Nursultan Nazarbayev’s address to the people of Kazakhstan is expected to be published on April 8.
