Several hundred buildings were damaged as a result of a three-day powerful squall in several regions of Kazakhstan, Deputy Interior Minister Yuri Ilyin said at a press briefing on April 9, Toppress.kz correspondent reports.
On April 6-8, a strong wind with the speed exceeding 30 m/s hit Kostanai, Akmola and North Kazakhstan regions. As a result, power lines were disconnected and several buildings’ roofs got ripped off. Overall, 395 buildings were damaged in the regions, Ilyin said.
These are administrative and residential buildings, including 210 in Akmola, 92 in Kostanay and 93 in North Kazakhstan region. Two people died and two more were injured.
The restoration of damaged properties in Kostanay, Akmola and North Kazakhstan regions should be completed today, the power lines will be reconnected by 18:00, Ilyin noted.
